Adoption Philosophy
Spring Creek Animal Rescue (SCAR) believes that loving, safe homes come in many forms. We recognize that traditional animal welfare practices, such as mandatory home visits, can create barriers and unintentionally exclude families that could be a pet’s ideal match.
SCAR is committed to equitable, inclusive adoption practices that focus on an adopter’s ability to meet an animal’s physical, emotional, and medical needs—rather than on housing aesthetics, income level, or conformity to a single definition of a “perfect” home.
Instead of home visits, SCAR uses a relationship-based, trust-centered adoption process, which includes honest conversations about lifestyle, expectations, and challenges; discussion of the animal’s known needs, limitations, and behaviors; and foster-to-adopt trial periods. Our goal is mutual success, not perfection. If the pet you adopt from us does not fit your lifestyle or family, we will always welcome them back into the rescue. If you’re still looking for a pet, we are happy to help you continue your search and apply their original adoption fee to a more suitable animal in our care.

Courtesy Postings
The following animals are being courtesy posted. This means the pets are not in SCAR’s direct care, but we are helping share their information to increase their chances of finding a good home.
These animals are typically still living with their current owner. SCAR has not evaluated them directly and cannot guarantee their health, condition, or temperament. If you are interested in adopting an animal listed as a courtesy post, please contact the name and phone number provided for the owner. We encourage potential adopters to ask questions, meet the animal, and make the best decision for their home.
